Paris, July 7st 2010 - Parrot, leader in wireless mobile telephony devices, and S1nn, well-known infotainment systems supplier for the automotive industry, announced today that they are supplying the Volkswagen Group with their conjunct hands-free solution. This collaboration takes the shape of the “UHV” equipment, designed by S1nn and using the Parrot CK5050+ module. It will be available in Europe and North America on several models in the Volkswagen, Seat and Skoda brands with launches starting this summer.
This solution includes state-of-the-art Bluetooth® hands-free telephony features with phonebook synchronization and digital signal processing technologies such as noise reduction and echo cancellation. The UHV is a market groundbreaker as it implements a user-friendly Speaker -Independent Voice Recognition solution in 12 languages. To place a hands-free phone call via Bluetooth®,, customers simply speak their contact’s name, with no need to record voice tags or browse their phonebooks. It also offers audio streaming of music files from the customer’s phone into the car audio system via the A2DP protocol. This will let VW, Skoda and Seat customers make the most of their phone’s multimedia capabilities thus making it a major element of the car’s entertainment system.
Examples of vehicles equipped with the UHV system: city car Seat Ibiza, compact SUV Skoda Yeti and sedan VW Passat CC
«We are glad to team with S1nn in supplying a major car manufacturer like the VW Group with such an innovative solution. The UHV is a successful implementation of Parrot’s technology combined with S1nn’s expertise in infotainment systems. It comes as a first step in the collaboration between Parrot and S1nn. The two companies are currently extending their partnership to the future implementation of the Android platform for specific car manufacturers. This move will enable car infotainment systems with Smartphone features such as telephony, music, video, Internet access and the wealth of apps this Open Source platform offers.” saidcommented Eric Riyahi, OEM Executive Director at Parrot.
“We also enjoy the partnership with Parrot while integrating their innovative technology into the VW group infotainment systems. Based on this first very successful program we will intensify our collaboration towards new car programs using the Android platform” said Philipp Popov, S1nn Managing Director.
